NZRC CORE Immediate for Health Professionals
NZRC CORE Immediate, (previously known as Level 4 Resuscitation) is a 6 hour practical course designed for health professionals who may encounter resuscitation events in their workplace and have rapid access to advanced responders. This course does not include a practical skills assessment or written theory assessment.
CORE Immediate is suitable for:
- Graduate nurses and midwives
- Graduate anaesthetic technicians
- Radiographers
- Trained hospital and community health support staff
- Dentists
- Emergency medical technicians (EMTs)
Course Requirements
To achieve certification, participants must attend the full 6-hour practical session and demonstrate simulated resuscitation skills in the following areas:
- Practical resuscitation skills
- Management of patient collapse and medical emergency scenarios
- Anaphylaxis management, including the use of adrenaline by authorised practitioners
Pre-course Reading
All participants are required to read the NZRC Resuscitation – A Guide for Health Professionals before attending the course.

Participants working in the dental sector are encouraged to review the Medical Emergencies Practice Standard as supplementary pre-course reading.
Alternative Course Option
We also offer NZRC CORE Immediate Adult CPR, a 4-hour course designed for practitioners who require adult resuscitation training only.
Eligibility
New Zealand Resuscitation Council (NZRC) CORE courses are available only to individuals who hold a recognised clinical qualification. If you are unsure which CORE course is appropriate to your role, please refer to the New Zealand Resuscitation Council Responder Training Framework here.
Course Numbers
Please note that the New Zealand Resuscitation Council specifies minimum and maximum class sizes for CORE courses. If enrolment numbers do not meet the required minimum, we will contact you prior to the course to discuss suitable alternatives.
