ALS Immediate for Dental Professionals
ALS Immediate, previously known as Level 4 Resuscitation is an NZDA Immediate course that runs for 4 hours. It does not include a skill or theory assessment.
This course is for dentists (providing RA sedation only), nurses, pharmacists, midwives, dental therapists, dental hygienists orthodontic auxiliaries, Clinical Dental Technicians and other trained health professionals undertaking restricted activities.
Certification requires a practical session (4 hours) where the student demonstrates simulated practical skills in these areas:
- Practical skills of resuscitation.
- Scenarios for the management of collapse and medical emergencies.
- Anaphylaxis - Use of Adrenaline for those authorised to administer
Participants are required to read the NZDC “Medical Emergency in Dental Practice “including Appendix A - Specific Responses and Appendix B - Quick Reaction Guide.
“Resuscitation - A Guide for Health Professionals to Resuscitation” is an excellent additional resource and recommended reading. It can be purchased on the NZRC website http://www.nzrc.org.nz/resources/
