New Zealand, Foundation First Aid or Refreshers
The full 1.5-day course includes the 2 units of the Foundation First Aid certificate (previously known as Workplace First Aid) and the additional unit needed for the New Zealand First Aid qualification (previously known as Comprehensive Workplace First Aid) qualification.
Students may join the course on just the first day to compete the Foundation First Aid certificate or to renew their current certificate. Please check the expiry date on your current certificate before booking a refresher. You may also join the course on the first morning for a Basic First Aid Certificate.
New Zealand First Aid - 1.5 Days
This course was previously known as Comprehensive Workplace First Aid. This course is the next step up from a Foundation First Aid course. Day one covers the Foundation First Aid topics in unit standards 6402 and 6401. Day two covers the extra unit standard 6400 needed to complete the New Zealand First Aid qualification. The following unit standards can be achieved on successful completion of the full course:
6402 - Provide basic life support (Level 1, Credits 1) - Day One
- Scene Management
- Primary Survey
- CPR - Adult, Child, Infant
- AED use
- Choking - Adult, Child, Infant
6401 - Provide first aid (Level 2, Credits 1) - Day One
- Bleeding & Shock
- Burns
- Trauma (Injury)
- Fractures, sprains & dislocations
- Poisoning
- Medical Conditions (Asthma, Heart attack, Diabetes, Stroke, Seizures)
- Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis)
6400 - Manage first aid in an emergency (Level 2, Credits 2) - Day Two
- Major wounds & burns
- Head injuries
- Severe allergic reactions/Anaphylaxis
- Hyper- & Hypothermia (Heat & Cold emergencies)
- Multiple casualty management
Foundation First Aid - 1 Day
This course was previously known as Workplace First Aid. Join the class for only the first day to complete the Foundation First Aid Certificate. Learn to assess the scene and casualty for life-threatening conditions and provide the necessary first aid. You will also gain knowledge of common first aid conditions and how to respond to them. It is a legislative requirement for first aid in the workplace. When you complete this course successfully you will gain a Foundation First Aid certificate, valid for 2 years and NZQA unit standards 6402 & 6401.
New Zealand First Aid Refresher - 1 Day
If your Comprehensive Workplace First Aid or New Zealand First Aid certificate is due for renewal you can join the first day of the course to renew your existing certificate. This option is for people who have a Comprehensive Workplace First Aid Certificate that is current or has not expired before the course start date (unless extenuating circumstances). Please check your certificate expiry date before registering and be ready to upload a copy when you register, email it before the course or bring it to the session.
Foundation First Aid Refresher - 1 Day
If your Workplace or Foundation First Aid certificate is due for renewal you can join the first day of the course to renew your existing certificate. This option is for people who have a Workplace First Aid Certificate that is current or has not expired before the course start date (unless extenuating circumstances). Please check your certificate expiry date before registering and be ready to upload a copy when you register, email it before the course or bring it to the session.
Provide Basic Life Support - 1/2 day
This course was previously known as Basic First Aid. There are limited places on this course to learn the essential skills in our 3.5 hour Basic First Aid course. You will join the class for the first morning only, learning to deal with life-threatening emergencies and cover the topics of NZQA unit standard 6402:
- Scene Management
- Primary Survey
- CPR - Adult, Child, Infant
- AED use
- Choking - Adult, Child, Infant
On successfully completing this course you will be issued the unit standard and a Basic First Aid Certificate valid for 2 years. Or, simply complete the course without the unit standard assessment to refresh your knowledge.
Manage First Aid in an Emergency - 1/2 day
There are limited places on this course for people who have unit standards 6401 and 5402 and wish to add 6400 only. You will join the class for the morning on the second day. You will need to provide proof of the prerequisite - upload this when you register, email it before the course or bring it to the session.
